100 Days, 3000+ Views, More in Store

Today, August 2nd, 2008, marks a milestone for Dear Old U.Va.: 100 days of covering Virginia Athletics.

Coincidentally, this week also marked another milestone for the site: We broke the 3000 post view mark earlier this week.

A lot has changed since I started the site:

  • Tiki is now posting articles regularly (recent posts here, here, here and here)
  • Melbourne Hoo has started a series on the ACC experience (first post here)
  • There are a couple of regular readers making comments on the articles
    • Vandy Hoo, who gets most of the credit for publicizing this blog, and
    • Ben Allaire of bleacher report fame

And there’s lots more to come:

  • Once I get some photos from various upcoming football (and basketball after that) events, I’ll be releasing the new photo gallery
  • Tiki and I have some previews lined up for the football season that we’ll starting posting in the next few days
    • ACC preview and U.Va. schedule predictions
    • Position breakdowns (Offense, Defense and Special Teams breakdowns only – sorry, neither of us is JHoo!)
    • Individual game previews
  • Schedule/Results archives – I’ve already started this for lacrosse (you can see it here) but I plan to do the same for all sports and continue back well beyond the information listed on VirginiaSports.com.
  • Generally we’re going to continue coverage of all Virginia sports, with a particular emphasis on some of the so-called non-revenue sports.

I do have one request for everyone out there – I know there are a lot more of you reading these posts than there are people making comments on the articles. Please feel free to post your thoughts on the articles, ask questions about the articles or the site, make suggestions for future articles, etc. We’d love to have more interaction with our readers even if this isn’t a message board site.

Thanks to everyone who has been reading the site (or downloading our RSS feed)!
