W Lacrosse Announces New Recruiting Class

Tuesday, December 02 2008 by Tim

Julie Myers and the Virginia Women’s Lacrosse team announced today the eight players that make up their latest recruiting class. I don’t know if I’m reading the release correct, but I think we got the best high school player from two different countries. I’ll take it!

  • Kelly Austin (Alexandria, Va.) – Heather Leigh Albert Award winner (most outstanding schoolgirl lacrosse player in the nation).
  • Claire Banta (Alexandria, Va.)
  • Megan Dunleavy (Fairfax Station, Va.)
  • Erin Laschinger (Lutherville, Md.)
  • Kim Kolarik (Riva, Md.)
  • Annie Thomas (Baltimore, Md.)
  • Caroline McTiernan (Garden City, N.Y.)
  • Charlotte Finnigan (England) – “Top goal scorer in the British Universities Lacrosse League,” “A member of the England Lacrosse team that won a bronze medal at the 2007 U19 World Championsihps.”

Oh, and everyone else in-between is an All-American. Kidding. Sort of. Only about half of them are All-Americans. The rest are just All-Conference, All-City, All-District or All-Region.

We all know Julie Myers has a solid program already in place (three consecutive ACC titles says so). These ladies look like a set of great additions to continue that trend.
