Men’s Lacrosse Earns NCAA Top Seed
Sunday, May 09 2010 by Tim
The NCAA announced just a few minutes ago that Virginia had received the #1 seed in the 2010 NCAA Lacrosse Championship. This was the obvious choice as Virginia’s resume was significantly better than all other teams in the tournament. The only real question was who they would play and what the rest of the top seedings look like.
The Cavaliers will host Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday at 7:30pm. The game will be televised on ESPNU. Virginia defeated Mount St. Mary’s 15-7 in the second game of the season. That game was a road game for Virginia, so at least it’s not a complete repeat…
I’ll update this post with a rundown of the rest of the field as I can get it (I don’t have ESPNU where I am, so it’s a little more difficult than usual).
Update: We’ve got more information now. Assuming Virginia gets past Mount St. Mary’s, they’ll then face the winner of Stony Brook and Denver. Virginia defeated Stony Brook 13-8 in the (ironically) 3rd game of the season. Here’s the bracket as I have it now.
#1 Virginia vs Mount St. Mary’s
#2 Syracuse vs Army
#3 Maryland vs Hofstra
#4 North Carolina vs Delaware
#5 Duke vs Johns Hopkins
#6 Princeton vs Notre Dame
#7 Cornell vs Loyola
#8 Stony Brook vs Denver
