“Familiar” Lacrosse Commitment

ESPN.com is reporting that Junior attackman Owen Van Arsdale has committed to play for the Cavaliers beginning in 2010. The name should sounds familiar to anyone associated with the Virginia Lacrosse program. He is the son of long time Cavalier assistant coach Marc Van Arsdale.
Owen attends local St. Anne’s-Belfield, where he plays with two other Virginia commitments – Austin Geisler and the well-known Howie Long, Jr.
It always seems like the children of coaches have a very solid IQ for their particular sport. The difference seems to be whether they have the physical tools to put that IQ to good use. In the case of Owen Van Arsdale, the answer appears to be a definite yes. This is a very good pickup for the Hoos, as Dom and Marc continue to bring in great athletes year after year.
