Lacrosse: Virginia at Syracuse

Friday, February 27 2009 by Tim

If you’re a lacrosse fan, the place to be this evening is in Syracuse, NY at the Carrier Dome. There will be two lacrosse matches feature some of the best lacrosse in the nation.

In the first match, starting in just a couple minutes at 4pm, the #2 Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse team hosts the #4 Virginia Women’s Lacrosse team. At 7pm, the men’s teams will take the field as the #1 Orange host the #1 Cavaliers. What’s what, you say? Two number one teams? Syracuse is ranked #1 in the USILA poll, which I guess is the one that most people use. Virginia, however is ranked #1 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll. Virginia is #2 in the USILA poll while Syracuse is #2 in the Nike/IL poll, meaning this is a battle for first place.

I would definitely suggest any fans of the sport try to follow along on TheSabre’s lacrosse board, GameTracker or Syracuse’s Video Feed.

I’ll probably be posting updates on TheSabre’s board, but I’ll have a recap or two here most likely.

Update 3: The #4 Virginia women have defeated #2 Syracuse 14-11 to take the first game of the lacrosse double-header. Very huge win for the Cavaliers, who never trailed in the game and held a lead as large as five (14-9). What a way to start off the weekend for the Hoos! Now let’s hope the men can make it a sweep!
