Tennis Wins, Lacrosse Loses and Wendy’s Fails

The University of Virginia athletics programs had an interesting weekend in the state of North Carolina.
Friday afternoon, the top-ranked Virginia Men’s Tennis team downed #25 Wake Forest 6-1 in Winston-Salem to clinch the ACC regular season title.
Saturday afternoon, the same team returned to action just a short drive away in Raleigh against the Wolfpack of N.C. State. The Cavaliers would again be victorious 6-1 as they clinched their second consecutive undefeated regular season. That’s simply an astonishing feat given the caliber of teams that they play.
Just up the road a bit from Raleigh, the top-ranked Virginia Men’s Lacrosse team took on the #8 Duke Blue Devils in Durham. Unfortunately, the Wahoos fell behind early and were unable to mount a come back as they had done the previous few weeks. They lost 10-15 in front of what I’m told was a pretty sizable crowd for a Duke lacrosse match. I was at this game and have pictures from it in the photo gallery for those that are interested.
Two other teams competed this weekend in North Carolina: The Men’s Golf team took to the tees in North Carolina, finishing 8th in the River Landing Intercollegiate and the Softball team dropped a pair of games at Chapel Hill.
At the end of the night, I got to witness one final battle that took place between a member of the Cavalier Tennis program and a Wendy’s credit card machine. Let’s just say the tennis team is still undefeated…
